In February 2019, the construction of an electrolysis hydrog

production plant and a hydrogen liquefaction plant started to extend the company’s operations along the value chain, rang

ing from hydrogen production and liquefaction, to hydrogen storage, transport, testing, refueling and applications.

The Baoding Great Wall Holdings Group Co Ltd, the indirect controlling shareholder of Great Wall Motor, said it pla

ns to acquire all the shares of Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Powertrain Co Ltd soon. That would enable Great Wall M

otor to develop and deploy cost-competitive fuel cells for a variety of applications, according to the company.

Great Wall Motor has already established an internationally competitive R&D team of 240 technology experts.

With four R&D centers in Baoding, Shanghai, Munich in Germany and Yokohama in Japan, Hu said that Great Wall

Motor will make full use of world-class professionals to promote the R&D and marketization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The company is set to play a leading role in technological innovation in the fuel cell vehicle sector in China, he said.

In 2008, her work was selected for sale at expositions

the first being the Xihe Qiqiao Cultural Festival, and it proved to be highly popular with tourists.

Soon, she began to take orders, and then recruited locals to work for her.

“As my life improves, I want to help others

to make better lives for themselves through their embroidery,” says Zhang.

In 2015, with the help of her family, she built a house to be used as a work site and named it Qiqiao Workshop.

At first, she recruited a dozen members. After that the num

ber has kept growing as the factory developed into an infl

uential embroidery organization, the Qiqiao Workshop Association.

By last year, it had 179 women as members, 30 of w

hom were from registered poverty-stricken households. It h

ad reached a turnover of 1 million yuan by last year, and members earned 4,000 yuan on average.

Members also carry on doing their other tasks, such as far

ming, cooking, taking care of children and household chores, and pick up pins and needles only in their free time.

“Apart from being able to increase their incomes, what is noticeable is that the women finally have a say in their family decisions now,” says Zhang.

“Earlier, they used to feel that they needed to ask their husbands even if they just w

anted to buy a 10-yuan sweater. But now, they feel free to make their own choices.”

In 2016, the China Women’s Federation designated Xihe county as the model base for alle

viating poverty and began to offer financial support to the likes of Qiqiao Workshop.

One of the beneficiaries was Lyu Xiaohong, the founder of the Baoji Embroidery Culture Company.

The federation encourages poor households to become shareholders by allocating each

of them an equity of 5,000 yuan. At the same time, Lyu’s company signed an agreement with the hou

seholds, promising a dividend of not less than 1,000 yuan by the end of each year. Now, 36 poor households in the v

illage, more than half of such households there, have decided to join the company.

With the federation’s support, these women have also lear

learned to sell their work online.

Meanwhile, Lyu registered an online store on Taobao in 2016 and says she has since earned 50,000 yuan.

Speaking about the efforts, Luo Shumei, the president of the Wo

men’s Federation of Changdao village, Xihe county, says: “It’s a good thing to see embroidery pro

duction in Xihe county is shifting from being scattered to being more organized.

“But one drawback is that we are yet to find a good market.”

Separately, in 2016, the Xihe Culture, Radio and

Broadcasting Administration designated Luo, now 32, as a Xihe Qiqiao culture “inheritor”.

As for the future prospects, Luo says: “To be honest, o

ur production is at a bit of a standstill now because we don’t know when the next order will come in.

“And we are reluctant to produce en masse beca

use of the risk of overstocking. But when an order does come in, we’ll work very hard.

China aims to build world-class metropolitan areas by 2035

China aims to build several metropolitan areas with global influence by 2035, according to the country’s top economic planner.

Notable progress should be made by 2022 with improvement in infrastructure in

tegration, freer markets, more coordinated industries and more livable envi

ronments, according to the guidelines released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Metropolitan areas are regions in city clusters which circle around a big

city and are within an hour commute. China plans to build 19 city clusters by 2020.

Support will be given to develop sectors like industrial design, cultural and creativ

e products, and financial services to establish an industrial mix with modern services as the main pillar.

Developing metropolitan areas will help optimize demographics and economic structures and stimu

late effective investment and potential consumption demands, lending steam to economic expansion, the NDRC said.

Wong Kong-tin, vice-chairman of the greater China legal

affairs committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong, said the appointment of Hong Kong and M

acao-based arbitrators to Nansha would be important in allowing Hong Kong and Macao residents to

directly participate in the social and economic development of the Chinese mainland.

“The introduction of Hong Kong-and Macao-based legal workers will help build a more open market and business system

based on international practices,” Wong was quoted as saying by Guangzhou Daily.

According to Wong, the court of arbitration for labor and personnel disputes of Nansha, which was set up in May 2

017, had already conducted exchanges with its Hong Kong counterparts.

“Through exchanges with its Hong Kong counterparts in the arbitration process, Nan

sha is expected to build a sound and efficient environment in labor ar

bitration, which will be very helpful to the development of the Nansha Free Trade Zone,” Wong said.

The United States has so far delivered batches of relief su

lies to a border town in Colombia, including food and hygiene kits, ready-to-use supplementary foods and high-energy biscuits

. It’s pledged $20 million to help Venezuela, and other countries including Canada, the UK and Germany have chipped in, too.

Earlier this week, Guaido named Saturday as the deadline for the aid to cross the border.

But the United States announced Friday preparations to bring aid in through another route.

”The US and its partners began pre-positioning additional hu

manitarian aid for Venezuelans in Boa Vista, Brazil,” the US State Department tweeted.

The aid consists of food kits “containing rice, beans, sugar, and salt to feed nearly 3,500 people f

or 10 days and additional rice to feed an estimated 6,100 people for one month,” a fact sheet from the State Department says.

British billionaire Richard Branson sponsored a Live Aid-inspired show Friday in Cucuta, Colombia, featuring Latin

American stars such as Colombian musical legends Carlos Vives and Juanes, and reggaeton singer Maluma. Co

lombian President Ivan Duque, Chile’s Sebastian Piñera and Mario Abdo of Paraguay also joined the crowds.

His attorney described his client as an innocent man, saying Foxx

  succumbed to public pressure.

”I think all the women are lying,” attorney Steve Greenberg said. “Mr. Kelly is strong, he’s got a lot

of support and he’s going to be vindicated on all these charges — one by one if it has to be.”

Kelly turned himself in Friday night, just hours after Chicago police issued a warrant for his arrest. He arrived in a large,

black van wearing a hoodie under an electric blue puffer jacket. He waded through a sea of reporters asking que

stions like “What do you have to say to the fans?” and “What do you have to say to the black women of Chicago?”

Kelly did not respond. Once he entered the building, he was handcuffed and led away by police. His arraignment is set for March 8.

New evidence involves a tape and an underage girl

Homeland Security Investigations is involved in an investigation of Kelly, a US Im

migration and Customs Enforcement official said. The official did not provide any details.

A grand jury was convened in Cook County this month in connection with new allegations against Kelly, two sources close to the case told CNN.

Greenberg told CNN this month that he had not been notified of a grand jury. Days before, attorney Michael Avenatti announc

ed he had given the State’s Attorney’s Office a videotape that he said showed Kelly having sex with an underage girl.

This tape leaves no question as to whether R. Kelly is gui

multiple sexual, illegal acts against a 14-year-old girl,” he told reporters Friday. He said Foxx’s investigation was “very thorough … dedicated and methodical.”

CNN has seen the VHS tape, which is 42 minutes and 45 seconds, clear and explicit

. It appears to show Kelly having sex with a girl who refers to her body parts as 14 years old.

In a news conference Friday, his attorney told reporters he did not know what was

on the tape.Greenberg brought a point of contention to one of the cases in the indictment.

”One of the charges appears to involve the same alleged victim from the earlier case and double jeopardy should bar that case,” he said.

Kelly has been associated with accusations of abuse, manipulation and inappropr

iate encounters with girls and young women for more than two decades. He has strongly denied the accusations.

What is on the latest video mirrors some of the alleged acts for which Kelly was arrest

ed in a child pornography case in 2002 when he was 35 and then acquitted six years later.

He has been sued by multiple women accusing him of having sex with them when they w

ere underage. Most cases, with the exception of the trial where he was acquitted, have been settled out of court.

NYPD hate crimes task force investigating Nazi drawings

The New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating Nazi drawings found Friday morning at an elementary school in Queens, Detective George Tourovakas told CNN.

Dozens of swastikas, a Nazi eagle and the words “Hail Hitler” (sic) were found drawn in chalk on the pavement of PS 139’s schoolyard.

Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, who represents the district, told CNN her office received photographs from a resident in the apartment building next to t

he school and immediately informed the police. According to Koslowitz, the area is a predominately Jewish neighborhood.

I am horrified, disgusted, and nauseated, to say the least, of what I have witnessed today. Naz

i imagery and anti-Semitic slurs were drawn at the PS 139 Playground in Rego Park. I was on the sce

ne today and most of the imagery has been washed away. Enough is enough! pic.twitter.com/vteXmlqQyk

”This was exceptionally scary today,” Koslowitz said, describing the images as “horrible, just horrible.”

Koslowitz told CNN she heard stories from her mother, who came from Poland, about anti-Semitic incidents in Europe in the

last century. Koslowitz, who grew up in New York, said she never believed an act of this nature could occur in the city.

”This really just has to stop,” she said. “There’s no question about it being a hate crime.”

There have been 36 anti-Semitic crimes reported in the city so this year, compared

with 21 for the same time last year, according to a New York Times report, which cited police.
